Slought is pleased to announce the revival of Infidelities, a conference about new directions in the study of Armenian history, memory, culture and displacement across West Asia and the Middle East to the Americas and back, from March 24 through March 26, 2023. The program is presented in partnership with scholars and programs at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Freie Universität Berlin.
We are delighted to share that our 2023 Fulbright-Hays Seminars Abroad program is now accepting applications from K-16 teachers and school administrators through February 9, 2023! The Seminars Abroad program provides U.S. educators in the arts, social sciences and humanities with opportunities to participate in short-term seminars abroad to improve their understanding and knowledge of the peoples and cultures of other countries. In 2023, summer seminars will be offered in JORDAN, MEXICO, and a joint seminar in ARGENTINA and BRAZIL.
THE FELLOWSHIPS: The American Research Institute in Turkey is pleased to offer ARIT fellowships for research in Turkey for the 2023-2024 year. Grants for tenures up to one academic year will be considered; applications for projects of shorter duration, as brief as one or two months, are also supported. ARIT offers research and study facilities as well as connections with colleagues, institutions, and authorities through its branch centers in Istanbul and Ankara.

Michigan State University is hosting an international conference entitled “Measuring Muslim Publics: Curves, Columns, Spheres and Squares.” This conference investigates who is ‘the public’ in public opinion? What effect does it have on politics? These questions have received a great deal of attention by scholars of American and European contexts where their contributions have taken on a universalistic overtone. Are these generalized assumptions valid in other societies – notably in Muslim-majority contexts?
