Please join AANM, the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CCAS) and the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University for a full-day, hybrid professional development workshop. The workshop invites educators to hear from fellow Arab American educators and authors on how to incorporate Arab American voices & perspectives in the classroom curriculum. The workshop will be held at AANM; virtual attendees are also welcome to register for a Zoom link.
Join CCAS for a lecture on political ecology featuring Dr. Muna Dajani, a Fellow in Environment, Geography and Environment Department at the London School of Economics.
Join the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies for a lecture by Dr. Hamza Hamouchene, a London-based Algerian researcher-activist and commentator, where he will discuss extractivism, the ecological and climate crises in the Arab region, as well as the practices of green colonialism. He will reflect on just transition, technology transfer, and other possible alternatives to the current status quo.
The book for discussion is Elastic Empire: Refashioning War through Aid in Palestine (2023) Stanford Press, by Lisa Bhunglia, political geographer and Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at Kent State University.
