The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies invites you to a lecture by Dr. Esmat Elhalaby, Assistant Professor of Transnational History at the University of Toronto. Dr. Elhalaby will present some of his findings in his upcoming book, Parting Gifts of Empire: Palestine and India at the Dawn of Decolonization, including the history of colonialism and anti-colonialism in West Asia, and the development of West Asian/Islamic Studies in independent India. This lecture is part of a series in conjunction with the course Studying the Arab World. This talk will be moderated by Dr. Fida Adely.

Dr. Esmat Elhalaby is a historian of colonialism and anti-colonialism. He is an Assistant Professor of Transnational History at the University of Toronto. His first book, Parting Gifts of Empire: Palestine and India at the Dawn of Decolonization is forthcoming from the University of California Press.
