Mahatma Gandhi Birthday Celebration

October 2nd, Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, is the International Day of Nonviolence, per a United Nations declaration in 2007.
Please join us for an afternoon of activities celebrating the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings. Enjoy chai with Pittsburgh organizations at 2:00 pm, followed by interfaith presentations, cultural performances, and student readings about:

MAHATMA GANDHI’S LEGACY AT 150
with Chief Guest India Consul General Sandeep Chakravorty
SANDEEP CHAKRAVORTY, a member of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) since 1996, has served in India’s Missions in several countries. Prior to becoming Consul General of India in New York in August, 2017, he was the Ambassador of India to Peru and Bolivia.
India’s Consul General Chakravorty will present the bronze bust of Mahatma Gandhi to AHINSA, to be installed in the Hillman Library on University of Pittsburgh’s campus.
