The Great Powers and Iran: A Memoir by Dr. Shireen Hunter

Announced by the University of Pittsburgh
As a country located in a sensitive geopolitical region astride the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea, Iran has always been of interest to great powers, and its destiny has been affected deeply by great power politics, rivalries and policies. Shireen Hunter discusses the impact of great power politics on Iran’s social and political evolution in the last two centuries through her own and her family’s experiences. She highlights how wars in which Iran had no role affected her family’s life and how revolutions, including the 1979 Islamic revolution, changed the trajectory of her life.
