The New ‘Contemporary’ Arab Thought

Announced by the University of Pittsburgh
The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies invites you to a lecture by Dr. Elizabeth Suzanne Kassab, Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies.
Dr. Kassab’s seminal work Contemporary Arab Thought examined the relationship between cultural and political critique in the work of major Arab thinkers. For her talk, Dr. Kassab will revisit this work in light of the 2011 uprisings and the regional challenges that followed in the intervening years. This lecture is part of a series in conjunction with the course Studying the Arab World. This talk will be moderated by Dr. Fida Adely.
