Registration is now open for Penn State's Center for Global Studies Teacher’s Workshop:
World on Trial: 2004 French Headscarf Law

This day-long workshop will explore the legal and ethical implications of the 2004 French law banning the conspicuous display of religious symbols in public schools. The “Headscarf Law” as it came to be known, most notably affected the rights of young Muslim women to wear traditional headscarves or other forms of cover. The workshop will also include a discussion of the French and Islamic perspective.
• Registration is free and open to K-12 educators as well as graduate and undergraduate students in the College of Education
• Act 48 Hours are available
• Breakfast and lunch will be provided
• Free parking will be available
Registration will close on Friday, November 1st; seating will be limited to 30 participants on a first come first serve basis.
